Apiary Co. is an experiential production practice in New York City, founded and led by Cher, a Black female creative director shaping gatherings, travel, and cultural projects with intention and care. Her path moved through nonprofit work, BarBee Events & Travel, and years of study across events, travel, and production. That quiet groundwork now lives in a calm, present practice where every engagement begins with listening, not assumptions.
Cher built Apiary Co. after several years stewarding BarBee Events & Travel, a boutique studio that proved how considered gatherings and journeys could feel when treated as creative practice. Those years of client work, supplier relationship building, and hands-on production sat alongside intentional study of experience design. Apiary Co. now carries that maturity, uniting gatherings, travel planning in partnership with FORA, and creative projects within one coherent, deeply human perspective.
Cher's approach is measured and relational. She listens for what sits beneath the initial brief, then shapes experiences that honour context, constraint, and desire in equal measure. Intimacy, clarity, and pacing matter as much as aesthetics. Every detail, whether a table layout or an itinerary arc, is considered for how it will make people feel in the moment. Clients do not encounter a performance; they encounter a practice that holds their experiences with care.
Gatherings, travel, and creative projects are held within one coherent, experience-first perspective.
A deliberately small client roster protects depth, attention, and genuine care.
Every engagement begins with listening, transparent conversation, and shared authorship.
Cher leads Apiary Co. as founder and creative director, carrying a practice shaped by years of attentive gathering, travel, and cultural work. Her background moves between nonprofit spaces, BarBee Events & Travel, and formal study of experience design, which means she approaches each project with equal parts care and structure. Clients meet someone who listens closely, asks considered questions, and holds both emotion and logistics in view at the same time.
She thinks in arcs rather than isolated moments, reading how a guest will move through a room or how a journey might feel between airport and final evening. Black and female owned perspective informs her sensitivity to context, representation, and belonging. The work is quiet by design, grounded in intimacy and clarity, so that what clients remember most is how fully they could be present.
Cher treats Apiary Co. as an ongoing practice, not a static business. She keeps the client roster intentionally small, which allows generous time for listening, research, and refinement before any experience meets the world. That rhythm is deliberate. It creates space to notice what really matters, whether that is a quiet toast at a milestone dinner or the unscripted morning in a complex itinerary.
Her process begins in conversation, often with clients who arrive holding a mix of ideas, constraints, and questions. Together, those threads become a clear narrative, supported by realistic budgets, honest timelines, and the structural backing of travel planning in partnership with FORA and wedding design and production offered through The Styled Stem. Cher's role is part creative lead, part steady steward, guiding clients toward choices that feel like an authentic extension of who they are.
